An exquisite, retired Jay Strongwater Hewitt Arabesque Letter Opener, showcasing the richly layered ornamentation, brilliant color and meticulous hand-finishing for which Strongwater's decorative accessories are celebrated.

The elaborate dimensional handle is centered by a large polished oval stone cabochon displaying beautiful mottled shades of moss green, salmon, rose and translucent gray. The stone is surrounded by an intricate openwork arabesque design embellished with hand-set Swarovski crystals in complementary shades of violet, orange, green and clear.

Rich guilloché enamelwork in warm burnt orange, burgundy and green adds remarkable depth and texture, while sweeping antiqued gold-tone arabesques frame the central cabochon and jeweled accents.

The long gold-tone letter-opening blade extends gracefully from the ornate handle, creating an accessory that is as much a decorative work of art as it is a functional desk piece. An applied JAY © STRONGWATER maker's plaque is incorporated into the handle.

Originally retailed for approximately $250, the Hewitt Arabesque is a wonderful example of Jay Strongwater's highly recognizable jeweled and enameled decorative accessories.

Condition Report: Excellent to very good pre-owned condition with minor surface wear consistent with previous use, but nothing significant. The handle was previously sent directly to Jay Strongwater for professional repair after becoming loose and is now secure.

Please note that one small Swarovski crystal is missing, as clearly shown in the final photograph. Otherwise, the jeweled and enameled decoration presents beautifully.
