Henry Atkin 1824 Georgian London Sterling Silver Large 22” Oval Serving Tray

An extraordinary example of late Georgian English silver, this magnificent oval serving tray was crafted by Henry Atkin and hallmarked in London in 1824. Its impressive scale, substantial weight and elegant proportions give the piece a commanding presence rarely achieved in more modestly sized serving silver.

The beautifully hand-engraved surface features scrolling foliate decoration surrounding a central cartouche, framed by an exquisitely pierced gallery with geometric and floral motifs. Gracefully integrated handles and finely cast ball feet complete the sophisticated Georgian design.

Especially desirable, the tray has never been monogrammed, leaving its original decorative engraving beautifully uninterrupted. More than 200 years after it was made, this remarkable piece remains an impressive example of Georgian silversmithing, equally suited to a distinguished silver collection, elegant entertaining, or display as a statement centerpiece.

Condition Report: Very good antique condition with no monograms. Beautifully preserved with light surface scratches and minor wear consistent with careful use over more than two centuries. The tray retains crisp engraving and strong, well-defined hallmarks.
