A striking Emilia Castillo sculptural water pitcher, handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico and combining beautifully hammered silver plate with Castillo's distinctive animal-inspired design.

Standing approximately 8 1/2 inches high, the substantial pitcher features a richly textured hand-hammered body with an extraordinary sculptural lizard forming the handle. Green malachite accents bring color and dimension to the design, while an additional applied lizard climbs across the body of the vessel.

Warm copper-toned details are incorporated into portions of the lizards and decorative elements, creating intentional contrast against the brilliant silver-plated surface. The combination of hammered metal, natural stone and whimsical sculptural form makes this an especially appealing example of Emilia Castillo's distinctive Taxco aesthetic.

The underside is signed and marked T0-85 / Emilia Castillo / 17 / Mexico / M.R. / Plated.

A wonderful statement piece for collectors of Emilia Castillo, Taxco metalwork, Mexican decorative arts and sculptural design.

Condition Report: Very good pre-owned condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The hammered silver-plated exterior and decorative elements present beautifully. Interior exhibits areas of discoloration and staining, as shown in the last photograph. Warm copper-toned areas visible on portions of the exterior are intentional elements of the mixed-metal design and should not be mistaken for plating loss.
