A striking example of Emilia Castillo's sculptural Mexican silverwork, this vintage 1980s candle snuffer combines polished 925 sterling silver with patinated brass in an organic botanical design. Measuring an impressive 13" long, the piece is formed as a twisting vine terminating in a beautifully modeled sterling silver leaf and flower-shaped snuffer.

Emilia Castillo is known for imaginative designs that combine traditional Taxco metalworking with naturalistic forms and contrasting materials. The aged verdigris patina along the twisted brass vine provides a dramatic contrast to the highly polished sterling silver, giving the piece the distinctive artisan character associated with Castillo's work.

The underside of the sterling leaf bears the identifying marks “Emilia Castillo,” “M.R.,” “TO-85,” “925” and “STERLING,” authenticating the maker and silver fineness.
