A fantastic and highly recognizable Dr. Seuss “We Looked! Then We Saw Him” diptych, adapted from the original artwork created for the beloved 1957 children's classic The Cat in the Hat.

Produced in 2007, this Authorized Estate Edition pairs an early ink-and-pencil concept drawing with the finished illustration, offering a fascinating look at the evolution of one of Dr. Seuss's most iconic scenes.

The upper image reproduces the early concept drawing, complete with production notes and text, while the lower image presents the wonderfully familiar finished scene of the Cat stepping through the doorway as Sally and her brother look on.

The edition was produced using hand-pulled serigraphy, with individual colors applied through separate screens, creating the crisp lines and vivid red, blue and black coloration characteristic of Dr. Seuss's artwork. The work is printed on acid-free Stonehenge paper and bears the authorized printed Dr. Seuss signature, along with the limited-edition number 783/850.

The diptych is beautifully custom framed and triple matted in royal blue, red and white, creating a particularly striking presentation that complements the classic Cat in the Hat color palette.

Accompanied by its Certificate of Authenticity, also numbered 783/850.

Condition Report: Artwork is in excellent condition. The black painted frame shows some scattered surface scratches and light wear, but nothing considered significant.
