Antique Victorian Electrified Mixed Metal & Onyx Banquet/Parlor Lamp

Late 19th to Early 20th Century

An impressive antique Victorian banquet lamp featuring exceptionally ornate mixed-metal construction, a beautifully figured onyx column and a dramatic ruby red glass globe shade. Originally designed as an oil lamp, the piece was later electrified for modern use and is currently in working condition.

The substantial square pedestal base is richly decorated on all four sides with elaborate scrolling ornamentation and distinctive winged cherub/putti faces, creating wonderful architectural detail from every angle. Silver-tone and brass-tone finishes continuing throughout the lamp, giving the intricate metalwork beautiful depth and contrast.

Rising from the decorative base is a tall cylindrical onyx column displaying soft cream and ivory tones with natural veining. Above the column, an exceptionally detailed openwork floral reservoir features densely modeled roses, blossoms and foliage accented by brass-tone fittings.

Completing the lamp is a large ruby red glass globe shade that creates a wonderfully warm and dramatic glow when illuminated.

No maker's mark has been located, and the lamp is being offered as an unattributed antique example.

Condition Report: Very good working condition with age-appropriate wear, patina and finish variation throughout. The onyx column shows evidence of a previous repair or reattachment near the lower mounting area, with some visible adhesive residue. The lamp remains sturdy and displays beautifully.
