We are pleased to offer this gorgeous antique Victorian silver-plated swing handled fruit basket on pedestal base, circa 1860’s. Features an elegant pierced foliage with engraved panels and a lovely scallop ornate border with shells and leafy scrolls. The pierced handle has a geometric design with leafy scrolls. Makers mark consist of five symbols in squares but difficult to read, and the central emblem appears to have been mis-struck. The cross-trademark emblem is by Joseph Rodgers and I think the rest of the marks might read JR & S in Gothic lettering which confirms this piece is English silver-plate and dates it back to the 1860’s. Measures 10” high (with handle) x 13.5” diameter and weighs 2.8 pounds.
