A true statement of elegance, craftsmanship, and Victorian opulence.
An extraordinary 19th-century showpiece designed to command attention at the most refined table settings.
We are pleased to present this exceptional and monumental antique English Victorian silver-plated epergne centerpiece, dating to circa 1891. This highly decorative and rare form is richly adorned with naturalistic grape clusters, scrolling vine arms, and lush foliage, beautifully complemented by two climbing cherub figures—symbolizing abundance, celebration, and luxury.
At the pinnacle rests a cut glass dish within a reticulated holder, rising from a boldly modeled central standard. Extending outward are three detachable S-form vine arms, each individually numbered and masterfully crafted, branching to support six bowls total. These bowls may be used decoratively, for florals, or adapted for candles. The arms may also be removed, transforming the piece into a striking tall tazza-form centerpiece for versatile display.
The substantial base features a reserved engraved presentation inscription:
“A LEGACY FROM F. BAYLY ESQUIRE 1891”, adding both historical significance and provenance appeal. The piece rests on three elegant scrolled feet, one impressed with the number “2466.”
