This striking piece features finely hand-painted figural scenes on substantial porcelain, enhanced by an intentional crackle glaze characteristic of period Chinese export wares. The porcelain was imported to Europe and later elevated by a French bronze atelier into a luxurious decorative object intended for European salons and grand interiors.

The heavy cast bronze mount displays elegant Rococo-inspired scroll handles, shell motifs, and paw feet, offering impressive weight, depth, and architectural presence. The original aged patina has been preserved, highlighting the craftsmanship and authenticity of the piece.

A rare example of 19th-century Chinese porcelain enhanced by French bronze artistry – substantial, authentic, and visually commanding.

Markings:

• The underside bears a blue underglaze Chinese apocryphal reign mark, a decorative and honorific mark commonly found on late Qing dynasty Chinese export porcelain. This mark confirms period authenticity but does not indicate manufacture during the named reign.
• The bronze mount is stamped with a crowned French atelier mark, consistent with late 19th-century Parisian bronze workshops. This stamp identifies a French bronzier workshop rather than a retail firm or named master, a common practice of the period.
